Sideboard

Chinese sideboard with acrylic legs

Category:

Another example of the magic of adding legs. And of how much I like contrasts.
This cute Chinese cabinet was just screaming please give me legs. I decided to go for something different: acrylic legs. Clash of styles? Why not?
To add legs, it is necessary to “install” mounting screws and the bottom of the cabinet was too thin to do it. I had to create extra “bases”. I used pieces of pine and some extra trims I had from the past projects and voila! Not only it allowed me to add the mounts but lifted the cabinet by couple extra centimetres.
I scuffed the whole piece. I used to colour from Fusion Mineral Paint to paint is: Champness (frame and inside part of the door) and Cobblestone (door). I used Vintage gold wax on all the hardware. I applied bits and pieces from Koi & Lotus furniture transfer collection from Aussi Décor Transfers. I added few motives on the inside of the door too. I slightly destressed all the transfers to give them a more natural look. I followed with sealing the whole piece using sating water-based varnish.
I used self-adhesive paper to cover the shelves.
