Sideboard
Sideboard in multitone blue with cane webbing
Category:
An old Ikea sideboard which either originally was dark or got stained in dark brown at some stage. Super ugly but made of solid pinewood.
I started by sanding the dark stain off the top to reveal its natural colour. It is one of my favourite combos: bare wood top and painted “body”. Paisley, a multitone blue from Fusion is a great match for the goldish hue of the pine wood (especially, once gently stained in pine to intensify its colour).
I used the natural frame of the doors to fill them with cane webbing, opting for a lighter shade.
I added tons of new hardware. The hardware has become the leading decorative element because of its quantity and colour. I selected 2 different models: knobs and semicircle handles.
As always, I didn’t miss an opportunity to add a surprise: a decoupage décor on the inside of the side doors.
