Side tables

Vintage style round side tables

Category:

An interesting example of 2 identical side tables refinished in a very different way. The moment I purchased them I fell in love with their legs (I think I have kind of the fixation).
The tables follow the opposite structure: dark / light vs light / dark (looking from the top)
First table was painted in Fusion Mineral Paint Hazelwood (top) and Cashmere (legs). Then I used an antiquing glaze on the legs to make them more 3-dimensional and add them more vintage look. I followed with a gilding wax in a bright gold on the round rims of the table. I replaced the hardware and sprayed it in gold.
Second table was a commissioned project. The green on the upper part was a mix of 2 Annie Sloan’s chalk paint: Antibes Green and Original (if I recall correctly). This time I used the gilding wax in warm gold. To create more contrast between the top and the legs, I used staining product to darken the legs. I used the same hardware sprayed in gold and retouched using the same gilding wax I used on the table’s rim.
To make sure both tables’ tops were well protected – I applied couple coats of varnish.
